As well as pre-fabricated sauna rooms, The Sauna House can also supply the materials for your traditional or infrared custom sauna project as well. If you supply us with the interior dimensions of your framed, insulated space, we can produce a "pre-cut" custom sauna kit for you. These include interior walls, ceiling, and all interior trim cut in tongue and groove (T&G) to exact dimensions, a pre-hung door, bench, light fixture, controls and conventional heater or infrared heating elements (pre-cut kits do not include exterior finish).
We can work with you or your contractor directly to complete your custom sauna room. Please visit our Custom Saunas RFQ page or call, fax or email us to discuss your custom sauna idea.
Door frame should be perfectly square, with a double 2"x4" on each side for extra strength. Keep a rough door opening about 2" taller and 2" wider than the sauna door ordered with the sauna kit. The door should always open outward.
All necessary wiring should be roughed-in by a licensed, bonded electrician after framing is complete and before insulation is installed.
The floor must be a hard, waterproof surface. Tile, linoleum, or concrete are fine.
A drain is strongly recommended for a commercial-use or public sauna. This is not a requirement for conventional or infrared saunas built for residential use.
Ventilation is extremely important, and two vents are required for all saunas. One air inlet and one air outlet. The air inlet must be placed at the base of the sauna near the heater, while the air outlet should be diagonal across the room to ensure maximum air flow, and placed no higher than 30" (any higher would cause significant heat loss). The diameter of both vents should be 4" to 6".
The sauna light can be wall mounted anywhere in the room. Wiring must be installed for 60 to 100 watt light. An exterior switch will be required unless the control panel includes one.
